Sail Sunset

Sailing yacht Sunset is a 1982 37 foot O’Day owned and operated by Captain James Brooks. Sunset can hold up to 6 guests and is ideal for smaller intimate sailing charters. Sunset is a very comfortable and spacious coastal cruising yacht with plenty of room aboard to stretch out and relax. Sunset comes equipped with a center cockpit and two separate cabins, which makes for a very unique and convenient layout for longer charters. When the O’Day 37 first launched in 1978, the design was applauded for it’s layout and the boat’s sailing performance. The yacht is a great layout for long-term trips, where guests can enjoy privacy in the larger forward cabin while the Captain stays in the aft cabin, dubbed the Captain's Quarters.

For multi-day charters, Sunset comfortably sleeps four adults. The forward cabin is equipped with a v-berth bunk, a large dining salon which doubles as two separate bunks at night, a full galley, a private head, and plenty of storage space.

Sunset is owned and captained by James Brooks, a familiar face in NY Harbor. James has worked aboard the historic sailing yacht Ventura since 2009 and continues to work aboard the old girl with the illustrious Captain Pat. James began sailing at the ripe old age of six in upstate New York. Rumor has it that his first word – besides Mom and Dad of course – was “porthole”. A USCG licensed master, James looks forward to sharing the magic of sailing with all those aboard Sunset.

We look forward to sailing with you!

Captain James
